A young cow had fallen into the entrance workings of the mine. It was uninjured but hauling it out the way it had fallen in would have been very difficult. Fortunately an adit entrance was found lower down the hill which led, after thirty metres or so, to where the cow was trapped. The passage was enlarged and cleared of obstacles and the cow was then able to make its own way out to the surface.
