We were asked to provide assistance to Upper Wharfedale and the neighbouring Mountain Rescue teams that cover cave rescue in the Yorkshire Dales with an incident that began the previous day (Thursday) with three experienced cavers reported overdue.

Due to difficulties with worsening weather and the realities of a multiday rescue 22 team members and our team 4×4 vehicle made the journey to assist in what became a 36 hour rescue involving over 100 rescuers from Calder Valley SAR, CRO, Swaledale MRT, RAF Mountain Rescue, UWFRA and CRO’s Extended Cavers list.

All the overdue cavers were safely returned to the surface by 4:30am Saturday morning
